To help you understand funeral costs we have prepared an outline of the categories that make up a funeral account. There are basically three sections that make up a funeral account:professional service, facility and motor vehicle charges, casket & burial vault selections and cash disbursements.
To help consumers, legislation states that all funeral homes must provide an itemized price list of all of their related professional service charges as well as casket and burial vault charges. This list must be available at the consumers' request without cost or obligation.
We pride ourselves on being a reasonably priced funeral home, with a high level of professionalism, quality facilities and high ethical standards. Consumers and families can learn first hand that there is a difference in the services we provide. Today, being good is not good enough. We trust that this service will give you one more reason to give Plummer Funeral Home serious consideration when seeking a funeral home that is pro-actively working towards providing you the highest standards of services and facilities while offering sensible and affordable solutions.
Professional Service, Facility and Vehicle Charges
This section is specific to the charges for our professional services, facilities and motor vehicles. These charges include: Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff, Transfer of Remains to Funeral Home, Embalming, Other Preparation of the Body, Facilities and Staff for Viewing, Funeral or Memorial Services, Staff and Equipment for Funeral and Memorial Services, Graveside Services, Hearse and Service Utility Vehicle.
Casket & Burial Vault Selections
This section is specific to the casket and vault that a family may select. All of our caskets and burial vaults are priced separately - meaning the price you see for the casket is for the casket itself with no other items included. Some of the other types of merchandise you might find in this section of the funeral account are: cremation urns, keepsake jewelry, memorial blankets and stationary packages. Again, each is itemized based on your selection and a total is itemized under the "Charge for Merchandise Selected".
Cash Disbursements
Cash disbursements, or cash advances, are just as they imply: to aid the families we serve, we sometimes cover third party expenses on behalf of the family as a convenience and add it to the total cost of the funeral bill.
Strict legislation ensures that these items are not marked up and only the exact "cost" is included on the funeral account. Typical cash disbursements might include:
